Carvoeiro Town squareCarvoeiro is a small bustling holiday town which retains the atmosphere of the fishing village it once was. The town offers a seemingly ever growing list of International restaurants and bustling night-spots. If bars, live entertainment and eating out is what you are after, Carvoeiro is a good place to spend a summer evening. There are plenty of live music venues including The Round-up Saloon (Country and Western), The Jail House (Blues and Rock) and Manuel’s on the cliff top (Brazillian Jazz, every Monday night).

There are plenty of boutiques and gift shops, and a couple of small food & drink stores in town for your everyday bits and pieces. There is also a big Intermarché supermarket on the Lagoa road, on the outskirts of Carvoeiro for even more choice.Carvoeiro's sandy beach

Carvoeiro beach is sandy and sheltered, with beachside cafés, ice-cream shops and restaurants. There are also plenty of other secluded beaches and coves nearby Carvoeiro, some of which are only accessible by boat but are well worth the trouble; boat trips are scheduled several times a day during the summer season. Praia da Marinha and Praia de Vale de Centianes are a short drive away and offer plenty of scope for cliff top walking and some fantastic views.Praia Marinha

Watersports like jetskis and pedaloes are available at the Carvoeiro beach for those who like messing about on the water, and there are a couple of diving schools based in Carvoeiro if you prefer to be under the water.

Carvoeiro is also well situated for family fun days out. There are two water parks within easy reach - theSlide 'n' Splash water park, Lagoa closest being Slide'n' Splash at Lagoa, and Aqualand just slightly further away at Alcantarilha. If you have something a little more relaxing in mind, then a trip to Silves is a lovely day out, with it's Moorish castle and riverside walks. A walk around the castle walls allows you to have a bird's eye view of the town and surrounding countryside, and there are lots of pavement cafés to stop for a cool drink on your way! There are also boat trips to/from Silves up the Arade river from/to Portimão Marina.

For keen shoppers the Algarve Shopping Centre is a must. There are a vast number of shops and boutiques as well as a Hypermarket, and of course an enormous food hall with restaurants and fast food outlets. For the non-Vale do Milho Golf Courseshoppers there are plenty of comfy seating areas in the sunshine, ideal for watching the world go. For those greyer days Algarve Shopping mall also boasts a bowling alley, multi-screen cinema and games arcade.

Whilst staying in Carvoeiro you are never more than 10 minutes from a Golf Course, the Vale do Milho 9 hole par 3 course is on the outskirts of Carvoeiro, the Nick Price/David Leadbetter, Pestana Golf Resort (Vale do Pinta and Gramacho) is 10 minutes drive. The Penina and Alto Club Championship Courses, Salgados Links, Palmares and the new Golf Do Morgardo courses are all within a 20 minutes drive.
